A day out in the Bane of Bris

So…. today Emma (my so-said fashionista and profesh stylist for the day ๐Ÿ˜€ )and I had an adventure in the hot and crowded heart of the bane of Bris ^^ (thanks Andree for the inspo!)

Also, can I just say, in the space of 2 months between graduating and going to HK and Europe and coming back, so much has happened! Topshot has opened up a lovely 3 story store in the city, QR has opened up a lovely new light blue line to Springfield, the blue Shorncliffe line has finally gotten a southern equivalent blue, Broadway in the city is still renovating, many little things ^

Anyways, so yep, met up at city and first up did some non stop blabber (at least on my part) to catch the other up on our respective fabulous times in Europe – already forming plans to be back there very very soon………hopefully. Anyways, I couldn’t resist a final trip to ZOOM to asian photo for the final time ~~~

Notice that little white man cartoon in the bottom corner? Let's play where's wally, old white man style! He features in two other photos too! Should've put him in all of the pics XD

Next up, lunch time!! Having both been to the land of leaning towers and pasta (see previous post), it was decided VAPIANO would be an excellent choice; Emma had theย pollo e spinachiย which is “chicken breast, onion, pesto, baby spinach in a cream sauce” while i had theย pomodoro e spinachi:

And of course, the blabber continues on, even after we finish eating our pastas, we still sit there and slowly sip away on our respective apple juice and san pellegrino to while away the time. Also had the lovely Mrs Jannine McGarry โค wander past and press her nose against the window and jump up and down to get my attention (….no not really, she just waved). Oh, and before that, Emma received a mysterious call from Melbourne..

oh. hi. hello there. who are you exactly? ohhhh you're monash?! :D

Next up was just a few selfies from our various wanders as we flit in and out of various clothes stores and did aย little spontaneous shopping, thankfully none of the below were considered spontaneous buys ๐Ÿ˜€

Now having wandered through basically all of the clothes stores on Queen Street in vain, one require a little summer afternoon refreshment, in this case, a mini froyo! I was all set to get my usual watermelon flavoured but this little nicely insistent, yet almost irritatingly so, noggi worker demanded I try the biscotti flavour first. I did. It was stunningly and amazingly delicious….And then I went ahead and ordered a watermelon one anyway. Just because i’m stubborn (as you all very well know). Emma was nice however, and gave in to the nice little man’s persuasion. She had a mini biscotti with choc chips, rasberries and strawberries while I had a mini watermelon with mango, strawberry and lychee pearls. Deeeelish.

And so that was the end of my little day out. In a nutshell, it was talking. walking. talking. shopping for clothes. talking. ordering. waiting. eating. talking. waving. talking. walking. talking. shopping for shoes. talking. walking. ย talking. walking. and yep, i’m sure you get the idea..

All in all, a good day with my tall and sassy friend ๐Ÿ™‚

Europe – A Very Long Post.

I usually run late. In most things. Probably everything, actually. Which is why, here I am, almost 2 months late in reminiscing about my adventures in the various lands of red double decked buses; leaning towers and pasta; mountains and crazily expensive watches; eating snails and inverted glass pyramids; chocolate and waffles; and finally, clogs, windmills and cheese factories (ew)…

By the way, it’s going to be a very very long post, just warning you now.

Anyways..where did it all begin? Tbh, not sure I remember ( <*)))< goldfish me)…ah right, yep. It started in Hong Kong (we went with an Asian tour ^^), met up with our tour leader guy by the name of Kelvin (such an asian name…) and checked into our British Airways flight on a brand-spanking-new A380 (which according to the pilot, was only a few weeks old and subsequently made my very, very, safe dad, nervous as crazy cats)

Now this whole time, I was wondering..is this going to be another boring tour with nobody my age? (like last time I went to Malaysia & Singapore, totally filled with old couples..so awkward) so when i saw another family of three say hi to Kelvin, I was like oooh that kid looks younger than the average retirement age ๐Ÿ˜€ and 13 hours later, landing in heathrow airport at about 5am, the two sets of parents introduced each other in a totally non-awkward way. It was like Hey!..Hey?…How are you?…I’m good..you?…Good, where you guys from?…Australia, you?…Oh, us too! Our son just graduated…Oh, our daughter too!…I’m Michael…~handshake~…I’mย Erwin, nice to meet you…I’mย Evelyn …~handshake~ … I’m Connie…And this is our son Brian, and you are?…I’m Jolie…hi…hi..and there we are, all friends, standing facing each other in a beautiful awkward silence…

Anyways, moving on…hop on the bus (we’re allocated rows, like it’s primary school or something :\ ) and Brian’s family is in front of us, we’re right behind, followed by various couples of varying ages — it’s a 50 seater bus and the tour is only 22, so plenty of space, yet we’re all crammed to the front initially..so off we go. First stop, Buckingham Palace! It’s freezing cold, bright and early and gloomy as hell, and I was extremely disappointed that there weren’t any of the funny guards in the red coat and furry black hats ๐Ÿ˜ฅ

Buckingham Palace - no funny red guards, just random joggers and fellow asian tour peeps :'(

Then we went off to the typical other attractions: Westminster Abbey, Big Ben, Tower Bridge,ย British Museum, etc. Also noticed a few little oddities, like the english pedestrian crossing button clicker thing? so different from home…theirs takes up so much more unnecessary space! And then in the souvenir store (aside from the very very brightly dressed man advertising out front and dancing to some horrid dubstep music) they also had a range of certain novelty items and one thing (1D fans will get the pun) stood out in particular.. ๐Ÿ˜€

Oh and we also flew 13 hours from HK to europe, just to have Chinese food for lunch in london’s chinatown…tell me where is the logic…

Anyways, that was all on the first day. That night, got on a 3hr flight to my beloved Italy and checked into a hotel that was called “The Hotel”. Simplicity is best I guess…Next day, very early wake up call and we’re off to the Colosseum!!!!! And then also the Trevi fountain!! The idyllic side of me made me throw a euro and make a wish, but then my cynical side took a certain smugness in that it didn’t come true…then we also went to the Vatican where there was a huge crowd lining up and lots of shoving and pushing to get in.. in particular two european women were very rudely shoving through our tour (which is made up of some elderly people too) to get ahead so i was like oh no you didn’t and decided to shove right back and ‘accidentally’ stomped on her foot…let it not be said that I am not petty ^^

In my head, gladiators are still racing around in chariots yelling battle cries.....jks, i'm not that crazy..

Next day we’re in Pisa. Now everyone goes there and either pretends to push the tower over or pretend to hold it back up. Iย really wanted to go there and try to kick it down. But alas, my height (or lack of) and skinny jeans meant it was not to be ๐Ÿ˜ฅ so I just ended up selfying (i took a lot of selfies on this trip..)ย and poking the tower instead.

Then we’re in Verona!! Home of Romeo & Juliet ^^ actually did go and see her supposed balcony (did Romeo throw rocks to get her attention?) and there’s also a statue of her down there where if you touch it (imagine how gross that statue would be, everyone touching it everyday)ย you’ll get good fortune in your love life or something, but then so many people have decided to touch a certain place, it broke..there is literally a hole.

Next day we’re off to Venice!! City of water? Canals? Water canals? Something. We walk around St Marco’s (is that the guy from the game?) famous square, saw some gondolas, saw some famous bridge, split up and we went to an apparently 300 year old cafe for coffee and macarons, looked at novelty aprons, and lunch was ~wait for it~.. squid ink spaghetti.. it was horrifying..and there was a lot…and it was black….and it tasted funny….it was not fun.

Next day we’re in switzerland!!! First time I saw snow (like real live snow!..uh, not live, but you know what i mean), first time it snowed on me, saw my first snowflake, many firsts ๐Ÿ˜€ Got up to Mt Titlis and oh jeez it was cold…my toes and my nose (lol, lyrics of Bubbly haha)…and when Kelvin tricked us to go out onto the cliff walk, we thought it’d loop around but it was a dead end so we had to walk back the whole length again…and it was really high up so oxygen levels were lower and it was bloody -20 degrees brrrrrr so of course get back inside the building and 4 degrees feels positively toasty warm! then while everyone had hot chocolate, to warm myself up I decided to eat movenpick โค swiss ice cream on a swiss mountain ^^

Seine night time river cruise, Versailles, Arc de Triomphe, Eiffel tower during the day, the Luxor obelisk, the Lourve (where i loved the egyptian bits and zoned off for the mona lisa and the rest..), etc ย – oh and i also saw a few more little random things like oddly shaped mannequins and random posters too..

Then next day, i actually could’ve checked into three different countries on Fb if i had had wifi..we went from Paris (France) to spending a few hours in Brussels (Belgium) and ended up at Amsterdam (Holland/Netherlands) for the end of the day. While in Brussels…saw the famous peeing statue (some story about a kid seeing a stick of dynamite about to blow and without any water nearby just peed on it to put it out and became a hero =.=), had some belgium chocolate covered strawberries <3, tried a waffle, etc

Final day…(so sad ๐Ÿ˜ฆ )…had a bright and early breakfast at 5am…then went off to zaanse schans, the famous place of windmills that we associate Amsterdam with – then went to a cheese factory (i stepped in there for less than a minute and leapt out due to avoid asphyxiation because thatย smell..eww it reeked…and i got outside expecting a huge breath of fresh air but even the air outside was infected with cheesiness :\ don’t get me started on how hard it was to get the smell out of my nose, had to find such unconventional things to smell ๐Ÿ˜€ then we went to the clog factory where they sold everything wood (including wooden tulips which i had my eye on the last purple one and this other …’lovely lady’ (we nicknamed her grumpy)…skipped the line and stole it from me got it first..this is what i get for playing by the rules..) anyway..then we went off on a boat cruise and ended up at the diamond factory..so sparkly ๐Ÿ˜€

Rewinding 2013 ~ Fast Forward to 2014 ^^

So I figured, instead of posting a review of the year before the year is actually over…I’ll be stubborn (as some of you know very well) and wait til the clock ticks over to the beginning of another 365 days…tick…tock…

First, I apologise in advance for the long post..Second, just like that, it’s been another year. This time last year….idk what I was doing — blame the goldfish memory. However, I do remember events from this year…uh….Julia got kicked out by Kevin who then got kicked out by Tony….North Korea did some silly things…we said RIP to dear ol’ Nelson…Beliebers cried as their idol declared he was retiring(while joy emanated from the rest of us)…..uh….I’m not going so well..

But wait, wait, wait, it’s all coming back to me now! Everyone needs a ย little reminder by way of frantically scrolling through the photo album labeled ‘2013’ for inspiration….. I totally didn’t that though. Really. I didn’t…. O_O

Speaking of UMAT, that in itself had it’s own little sections worth writing about. Because of it, I attended a final prep session where I was in the presence of two types of guys. One guy, who sat at the back, was a hilariously pompous little thing. The other, sat next to me, and initially I thought he was like the latter one, but turns out, he wasn’t that bad. Just a little weird. ๐Ÿ˜‰ this of course, was all in lead up to the big event. 31st of July. Now, the fireworks are over, but being me, i’m not bothered by the fact this post is an hour or so late. It’s a stubbornness thing — certain friends out there will know what I mean ๐Ÿ˜€ So here’s a final picture from me, ย a little message i found on a packet of sugar while in HK.

The sugar says it all.

The sugar says it all.

Happy new year, everybody! Hope you’ve had a fabulous 2013 and that 2014 will be even more so, maybe even fantabulous!

Have a bunny Christmas!

20131225-012205.jpg

So…as some if you know, I recently saw my first real live bunny (thanks to Queensland being the only non-rabbit state in the country..can you believe the irony that I was born in the one rabbitless state?!) and now that my childhood adoration of this furry, floppy-earred animal has returned and despite not actually understanding nor believing the true spirit of Christmas (my parents were Grinches who never tried to trick me..never forgave them for that…)

I am here right now, an hour and a bit into this infamous day of waking up and finding presents under my non-existent imaginary tree (actually, I wonder if Santa has finished his delivery service tonight yet? Still quite early in the night..but if he has a lot..I send him my sympathy that the Australian Post Office’s express option is not a viable option)…um.

I lost my point. Right. Bunnies. Basically, I didn’t want just any ordinary Christmas post. I wanted one which I would remember..and i will never forget my abrupt new love of the lapin and yes, that was a little reference for my French speaking friends, hope I got it right… Anyways, you get the point.

Merry Christmas!!

PS…notice the snow? That’s especially there for the one friend who saw snow for the first time this year in Tasmania ^^ enjoy it while it’s still here! ๐Ÿ˜€

Revamped. Revised. Re…i can’t think of any other words starting with RE..

Hey

So…lots has happened since my last post…I don’t even remember when the last one was tbh..

But..I’ve had my senior year..what they say is true, it is the best and worst year of your life so far.ย

Been through exam blocks…both fun times and horrid last minute cramming (young ones, lemme tell you,ย don’tย cram, it’s not fun and it doesn’t really work unless you’re really lucky!!)ย

Been through QCS – we had a very cheesy theme.ย That’s My Team…and we only came up with ones likeย QCYesย andย Blood runs green after the exam was over haha – either way, it worked. We did pretty damn well I think..Kinda..whatever.

Had theย Le Soiree Magnifique Ball andย Night Under the Starsย Formal… formal was definitely the best – the dress, the heels, the pre, the limo, it was just more casual and friendlier ๐Ÿ˜€ but mainly, i liked it more because of my dress…after all, I am a girl ๐Ÿ˜‰

I’ve graduated –ย Senior of 2013, got my jersey, had my valedictory, had some cheesy candle ceremony, had an excellent last day which started at 6:30am and involved a water party on the oval with a dunking pool and water slide..

I’ve had my own version of schoolies i guess you could say…had to leave the day after graduating to fly off to HK so I’m not regretful or anything. Went on a Europe Tour for 12 days. It was one of the best times of my life so far haha – more about that later

And now I’m back in the land of clean, fresh air and blue skies.. oh how i’ve missed you Australia..nothing quite beats home…as amusing as other cultures are..especially in HK and China where watching the restaurant menus fail at english is a spectacular highlight each day…

So..welcome to this newly refurbished blog of mine.. THAT’S the word I was trying to think of earlier! Revised, refurbished, revamped…oh yeah.. dat alliteration ^^ the english department would be so proud haha

Oh, dinner calls. Ttyl

kim kar-who?

Heyy. Again, the usual. Sorry for not posting in a while. Yesh i have a life to focus on too.

Anywayss – this was a while ago, by the way, but i still reckon it’s pretty lol-able.

So it was in English a while back and it was during the time of a veryย auspicious wedding. (and no, not the royal one)

Mr P. was like “Kim Kar-…who is having a million dollar wedding?”

And everyone, for no reason whatsoever just cracked up at his look of astonishment.

And then Kayla or someone was like, “not million, more like a hundred million. Her headpiece alone is 2.5 million dollars!”

Mr. P “say what?!?!?!?” and he actually jumped in a half turn. (one of the you-had-to-be-there moments)

Then someone else added in too, “By the way, the whole jewellry set was 15 million.”

Me: “Yeah, just casually 15 million US”

Mr P. was actually close to like exploding, i swear, looking at his face anyway. He was bright red (not from anger, but like,…shock?)

Anyways he was like astounded by the fact she could “waste so much on a load of sparkly rubbish” which again, made the class rofl for not much of a reason. (is that correct grammar? I don’t think so )

Anyways – I have to go. in Biol again. I’ll try to post more later. Ta ta!

“can i have a pad”?

Hey, long time no see.

Sorry I havn’t posted in soย long – holidays – work – starting school again. You know. Stuff that unfortunately requires lots of time (i don’t mind working though, actually) Anyways, if you’re wondering, holidays were good – i luuuuv working. Cue the Mamma Mia! song, money money money!

Anyways (here comes that word again). So, I’m in biology (yet again). Yesterday I got my Chem test back – thank god. phew..one thing to stop stressing about.

So last term, i never got around posting it, but it was ironically, again, in Biology and this girl called Joanna randomly blurted out while we were all working;

Mrs C. can I have a pad?”

SAY WHAT?!?!?!?!?!?

Mrs C. ‘Excuse me?’ ( :O )

Joanna: Can I have a pad?

Ellie (aside to Joanna): What the hell are you doing asking the teacher for a pad???!! ย ( ‘,:-\ )

Joanna: Ohhhhhh. Um, a plant pad.

Class: rofl

Yeah. That was quite funny. It would’ve been even more funny if some guy walked past. lol

Ok, I have to go finish my Biol assignment now, due in 2 days!!!!!!

R.I.P Sidonie. You will be missed.

Dearest Sidonie,

As I said. You will be missed. Dearly. You were the brilliant one. The smart one. You were the person I was going to say, 20 years from now, that I went to high school with you when you won the nobel prize or something amazing like that. Instead, you are suddenly gone. As Shakespeare says,

Life’s but a walking shadow, a poor player,
That struts and frets his hour upon the stage,
And then is heard no more. It is a tale
Told by an idiot, full of sound and fury,
Signifying nothing.

William Shakespeare

So so depressing, yet so so true. How is it possible someone like you didn’t survive to become the most celebrated neurosurgeon ever? All of us at somerville were supposed to say, “Oh yeah, that neurosurgeon who saved hundreds is my friend.” Now…we have nothing left so say but our hopes for you to find peace wherever you are.

Rest In Peace.

telling us to be bad

Hey. I am so sorry for this complete let down of posting. Quite pathetic, really. I don’t think I’ve been posting in over a week. There’s still been not much to say but this week is ca-wa-zy!

There’s been Biology, Chemistry, 2 Maths Test, Piano Lesson, Netball fitness session, Badminton that I ‘forgot’ to go to…etc.

Yeah, so among that something sort of funny popped up.

It was in English – and Mr P was talking about philosophy crap again. God this and Lord that. (no offence to anyone who is Christian or Jewish or something)

Then he switches to how sometimes people are tooย good, so someone randomly blurts out:

“So are you telling us to be bad?”

Lollllololollllolololllll. Then Mr P starts talking about guilt and bad things in the world and how if they were bad they might not feel guilty then he pretends to shoot the girl from before and everyone laughs. Then he goes up and taps another girl on the shoulder saying “I could feel fine shooting Taylah but I could feel guilty touching Olivia here.” and we’re still laughing from before when he ‘shot’ Taylah. Then he randomly blurts out “I have a blue card, by the way.”

And we just rofl harder….he had this look that reminded me of the look kids get when they get caught stealing a cookie from the cookie jar or something. Lol…

Anyways, I gotta go. In I.t. doing some random crap. Bye!

take two

Alrighty. I am exactly 10 minutes away from presenting my English oral. Kill me now!!!

I am absolutely freaking out but despite that, I need to re-post this:

http://albm.com/S/Book/Details/6457

It works now! Before, I hadn’t turned on the ‘public’ setting so no one could see it. It’s all good now. ๐Ÿ˜€

God. “cleasing of scotland” “prince of cumberland” “great confessor” — all this is running through my head right now…..

Anyway, off to practice. Bye!
